A Layman's Guide to The Different Forms Of Hypnotherapy

Of the many forms of complementary or alternative medicine, one niche that's fast gaining followers is hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy is defined as a form of therapy where the subject is induced into a hypnotic state, and the conscious mind is suppressed while the subconscious mind is revealed. The therapy aims to re-program the person's patterns of behaviour within the mind, and suggest ideas, concepts or lifestyle changes. Here's a layman's guide to the different forms of hypnotherapy.

Cognitive Hypnotherapy
One of the most popular forms of Hypnotherapy Adelaide is Cognitive Hypnotherapy. This variant draws influences from various theories, from neuroscience to evolutionary psychology and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. A cognitive hypnotherapist generally attempts to get into the mindset of clients or patients, to both clear away unwanted thoughts and behaviours, and ensure that the changes are fully realised.

Analytical Hypnotherapy
Also referred to as “hypnoanalysis”, analytical hypnotherapy is effective in finding the root cause of the person's problem, and dealing with the issue. For example, the hypnotherapist tries to mask a certain phobia, by determining the root cause and dealing with it.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
Solution-focused hypnotherapy is one form of therapy where the focus is on the present and the future, and not the past. It uses practical, modern and well-researched strategies to help patients or clients gain significant and positive change in their lives, in a relatively short span of time.

A solution-focused form of hypnotherapy also looks at what the client or patient wants to achieve, instead of looking at the problem that prompts them to seek change.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming
NLP, or neuro-linguistic programming, is a form of hypnotherapy which has been noted to effectively re-program the brain. The core activity of NLP is called “modelling” which refers to the process of extricating and replicating the language structure and behavioural patterns of a person who is excellent at a given activity.

According to hypnotherapy for weight loss experts, NLP can be utilised for developing and enhancing a person's performance, wherever there is human interaction and growth potential. It's also effective for use with patients who are resistant to the idea or thought of going into a trance.
